Zendoodle cat and teapot

Two cards today. The first one is a zendoodled cat. Dedicated to Millie, my daughter’s new black and white cat!

This is for

CASOLOGY 288 – Pun (I love all the examples, and the contributors’ clever takes. I love a good punny card!)

and Addicted to CAS 130 – CAT

Then there’s my next zendoodle: a teapot. I know there tend to be more coffee challenges than tea ones, but I did a coffee pot not long ago. So my response to the pretty picture at The Card Concept is a teapot… inspired by the black and white and watercoloured with peach of course (peach watercolour pen this time). Such a pretty colour!

This is my Clean and Simple card for The Card Concept #87 {Freshly Brewed}

and also entered at Seize the Birthday’s Coffee or Tea!  challenge.

The haiku:

When my world seems just
black and white, you fill it with
colour and meaning 🙂

Lightbulb moment

Another masculine card for a colleague, returning to zendoodling. We’re all geeks at work, so it can be a bit of a challenge! (There may be more zendoodling to come…)  It’s a modern lightbulb. By the time I’d finished zendoodling I wasn’t sure anyone would be able still to see what it is, but plenty of people said “Oh, it’s a lightbulb” so it’s not too bad!

I’m going to enter this one into Cards4Guys Challenge #188 Something Beginning with L (which is Lightbulb, of course!)

and Water cooler Wednesday where it’s #WWC158 Helen’s Masculine Anything Goes challenge

And the haiku:

Look on the bright side
Be confident in yourself
And let your light shine

Blocks of pink and green

My second card of the weekend uses the CAS Colours and Sketches colours for this week with the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. The colours are powder pink, berry burst and wild wasabi – although I used my watercolour paints and mixed them to produce the colours.  This was a technique I hadn’t tried before.  I painted the watercolours onto a stamp and stamped it. It looked nothing like the original stamp but I really like the effect. It feels floral, though it isn’t at all!  For the larger plainer  panel I painted it first with pale pink and then stamped again with berry watercolour on top. The sentiment is Papermania.

Entered in CAS Colours and Sketches Challenge #258

and Freshly Made Sketches #FMS323

My fingers dyed pink
Pale, one hand, dark the other
A day spent happy.

Pinks that aren’t Valentines…

I’ve been playing with pink paint this weekend.  This is grey, pink and red for  Color Throwdown.

The painted lines are deliberately cut off true. Paper was watercoloured and the flowers stamped and fussy cut.  Although the colours are very ‘Valentiney’, I really didn’t want to make a Valentine’s card!

Entered in Color Throwdown #479

Is love always pink
and does pink have to be love?
No, pink’s just happy!

Teal sailboat

There’s a gent I know who loves sailing so every year is a different nautical or maritime card.

Here is this year’s. I had a very clear idea of what I wanted to do, but it turned out rather differently in the end 🙂

It’s a watercoloured background with a sailboat stamp  (Sheena Douglas) and a sentiment stamp (from a magazine), plus gems 🙂

Entered in Freshly Made Sketches # 322 FMS322 (though the middle panel became less rectangular because it worked so much better to fussy cut the sailboat).

Watercooler Wednesday #155 Anything Goes

Simply Create Too: Favourite Colour combo (I love any combination of aquas, teals, turquoises and blues!)

and Addicted to CAS #129 which is asking for Teal (hurrah)!

Even in your head
you can sail away to new
fun and Adventures!

Coffee and a book

To be honest, I prefer tea, but there are more challenges about coffee 🙂 So this is a coffee pot.

I know a lot of people hate using books but this text comes from an old dictionary that was literally falling apart, and surely it’s better to reuse than to throw it away altogether?

The word ‘coffee’ was right on the bottom of the page and useless to cut out, but ‘drink’ and ‘drip’ worked well 🙂

This one is inspired by both the picture and the sketch at Fusion. Entered into

FUSION – Coffee and a Book

CAS-ual Fridays CFC #191 — More Coffee Please

and Cards in Envy Tuxedo (Black & White) Card Challenge

And a haiku:

‘Covfefe’ may be
how I feel before the first
coffee of the day!

Penguin wishes

So here’s a penguin for a winter birthday. Seems appropriate as we’ve had a layer of snow today 🙂

He’s entirely one layer, which involved four stages of masking, and I’m quite proud of it!

This is for this week’s Muse challenge , as a CASE of Tracey’s cute card

and as I achieved the one layer: Less is More’s one-layer Cute challenge

Enjoy a snow day!
Like the holiday, it will
be suddenly gone

Vintage car

A birthday card for an older gent… the kind who don’t really appreciate clean and simple and think the more you put on it the more you love them! (Bless!)

The car is cut from a printed sheet and the ribbon came from a Christmas cracker 🙂 I printed out the sentiment.

This one is entered in:

The Male Room challenge #77 Vintage

and

Watercooler Wednesday’s Masculine Challenge 153 from Gail

I’ve watched Design Team calls go by for these two of my favourite challenges. I wish I had the time to apply, let alone create the cards 🙁  Perhaps some day – when I retire maybe!  Meanwhile, the artists who have been appointed are truly inspirational for which I’m always grateful.

Here is the haiku for this one:

As you get older
your worth grows faster than the
cherry we planted

Pastel butterfly

Final post for the day – and maybe the last time I’ll have to create for a while as things are getting busy from now on…

This butterfly mixes a few challenges.

butterfly salt

It’s Patricia’s sketch at CAS Colours and Sketches #235 (turned, because I preferred the card that way) and it’s coloured with watercolours and salt, meeting the requirements for the CAS Watercolour challenge this month. I wasn’t too impressed with the outcome, the salt seemed to turn an odd colour and it didn’t really create the effect I was trying to achieve from the videos I watched…  But it is definitely different from before I put the salt on!

Also entered in Kath’s Watercooler Wednesday All About Birthdays challenge #131,

Cards in Envy’s Insects and Bugs challenge

and the Butterfly Challenge #84, with Wedgewood blue plus my choice of pink and aqua.

Wish I didn’t flit
From one thing to another:
Procrastination! 🙁

Summer shells

I’ve been wanting to work with shells ever since I got a new stamp set with a seaside theme. The stencilled blue is brighter in real life, and a bit sparkly as it’s pearl mist…

shells

This layout is inspired by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches this week. Number 300! Congratulations to them on a real milestone 🙂

The colours are from Hand Stamped Sentiments – the sentiment stamp is also new 🙂

Also entered in CAS on Sunday (Friday now – glad it changed)  #114 Birthday

And the haiku for this one:

Turned over like shells,
I wonder how I appear:
Battered by life’s waves?
