haiku cards

I’ve been wanting to revisit this old Stampin’ Up stamp for this Christmas, so the new sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #201 got me reaching for it straightaway.

So entering:

Sorry the haiku turned out a bit sad. I expect I’m not the only one feeling it this year though. It’s been a funny old year!  The card is jolly enough I hope!

This year I want none.
Presents cannot compensate:
a day without Mum.

I wanted to try a naive doodling theme for Christmas, and this is the first one I liked. I wanted it to be a single layer, but it didn’t look quite right, so there’s a bit of matting going on to frame it a little more.

I’ve been wanting to try a simple candle card for a while, too, and along came CAS-ology’s Candle challenge (Week 226)

Mostly watercolour again, including the candles, with just the sentiment added.  It’s a design that could also be used for birthdays… but I need Christmas cards!

The year hastens to
its close: quiet or shouty?

I’ve had the idea for this card for a while and couldn’t get it to work, but the challenge at CAS-ual Fridays caused me to look at it again.  A watercoloured background has been punched into snowflakes on hexagons, with the addition of gems and the roughly cut glitter paper. Intended to have a rustic look but still CAS.
