The police got there really quickly. They sent for an ambulance for Andy. Sarah was pretty upset by now, so I offered to go in the ambulance to hospital with him, but she said she'd be all right, and that she wanted to go. They wanted to treat my black eye, but I've had worse than that in the past, playing rugby, and I said I'd be OK.
I went to help Claire, who was trying to tell the police what had happened, and managed to persuade the police to postpone questioning us. I promised that we'd go down the next day to give a proper statement.
To be honest, I didn't expect to see those lads ever again.
