I came to in the ambulance, I think. I wasn't aware at the time where I was.
Sarah was there, looking pale and worried. I tried to smile at her, to reassure her, but I don't think it came out right because her eyes filled with tears. She always was a sensitive lady.
I kept trying to cheer her up while we were waiting in the hospital. I know it should have been her reassuring me, but Sarah's not very strong, I've always had to take the lead. And, after all, she was worried about how I was, and I was the one who already knew!
It wasn't very pleasant in the hospital, though. It seemed to take for ever to be seen, and I felt worse after the doctors had finished with me than I did when I first came round.
When they took me up to the ward for the night Sarah looked all lost and vulnerable as she waved goodbye. They must have caught the thugs, though, because now Sarah seems determined to take them to court.
I've still got a splitting headache.
