The police were there almost immediately. I suppose they're on standby on a busy Saturday evening.
I started feeling better as soon as those thugs scarpered. To be honest, I've never been in a situation remotely like that before!
Sarah tried to turn Andy over. I stopped her and said his neck might be broken, and she shouldn't move him. He started groaning then, although he didn't open his eyes.
That's when Sarah really started to go to pieces. I suppose she was worried about what was wrong with Andy.
It seemed like an age until the ambulance arrived. I was trying to comfort Sarah and the police were doing what they could for Andy.
Jake offered to go the hospital with them, but the paramedic said it would be better if only Sarah went. She'd managed to calm down a bit by then.
The police asked us a couple of questions and took our addresses and we promised to go down to the police station early on Sunday to make a statement.
