Time passes. There is darkness.
I have no vision, no senses beyond me.
Nourishment seeps through the rock.
I grow, nanometre by nanometre.
I have become a column
reaching from floor to
roof of my cavern.
Colours ripple.
There is pleasure
in the creation.
Still all is darkness.
A flash of light.
A nanosecond of sound.
A sensation of great heat.
All cools.
My rock column has broken.
There is energy all around me.
I absorb, grow, repair my damaged slab.
Carving myself out of the living sandstone.
