We invite writers, artists and photographers in Cullercoats, and who love Cullercoats, to submit images and/or words, whether poetry, stories, or personal reflections to help us craft our community Digital Mosaic.
Cullercoats Bay, on England’s North East coast, is at its best, some might say, at sunrise. It attracts dog walkers, walkers, runners, wild swimmers, paddleboarders, kayakers and others at sunrise, whatever the time or the season. Even those who prefer their sleep can catch the beautiful winter dawns. In the past 16 months the sunrise has kept many of us going. Every morning, whatever the terrible news, and whatever humans suffer, the sun comes up: it can capture the changing seasons for the year to come and allow everyone a way to express their feelings about the sunrise we all share.
A mosaic or a quilt is greater than the sum of its parts and creates something special and beautiful out of its many elements. A digital version can capture contributions from old and young across Cullercoats residents and and fans. This Mosaic will capture images, photgraphs, poems and short pieces of writing on the subject of sunrise from children and adults in Cullercoats. Submissions will be edited and curated for complete digital safety and relevance, but the default position is to accept everything submitted.
The Cullercoats Sunrise Mosaic will run throughout summer 2021.
If you are submitting an image, please complete the submission form and email the image to sunrise@newmediawriting.com
