{"id":955,"date":"2018-06-03T19:12:45","date_gmt":"2018-06-03T19:12:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/helenwhitehead.com\/haiku\/?p=955"},"modified":"2018-06-03T19:15:08","modified_gmt":"2018-06-03T19:15:08","slug":"hot-glue-embossing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/helenwhitehead.com\/haiku\/2018\/06\/hot-glue-embossing\/","title":{"rendered":"Hot glue embossing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I saw the challenge at CAS Mixup to have a go at layered embossing, I thought about the hot glue gun technique which I&#8217;ve been wanting to try for a while.\u00a0 So here are two cards using this technique, with layers of hot glue, and two embossing powders, gold and &#8220;midnight sparkle&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-959\" src=\"http:\/\/helenwhitehead.com\/haiku\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/hot-glue-mulberry-blue.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"504\" height=\"505\" srcset=\"https:\/\/helenwhitehead.com\/haiku\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/hot-glue-mulberry-blue.jpg 585w, https:\/\/helenwhitehead.com\/haiku\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/hot-glue-mulberry-blue-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/helenwhitehead.com\/haiku\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/hot-glue-mulberry-blue-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 504px) 100vw, 504px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This first one is in Colour Throwdown&#8217;s colours of blue, mulberry and gold, though neither colour came out quite as dark as I would have liked. But they are pretty at this intensity I think, so I&#8217;ve not added more paint.<\/p>\n<p>Hot glue squiggle made on watercolour paper, dragged with a piercing tool. Heated up once dry (it dried almost too quickly to drag!) and embossing powder sprinkled on, then the heat tool applied again, and in some places more heating and embossing powder. Once dry I watercoloured in between the lines.\u00a0 \u00a0I hoped it would come out like waves, but it doesn&#8217;t &#8220;say&#8221; that to me. And didn&#8217;t want to detract from the rest of the embossing and the wonderful texture.\u00a0 Tried matting it on different colours and found the right gold and then black card base came out nicest. This is my favourite of the two. You can clearly see the difference between the two embossing powders on this one.
